How to Check Your Spam Folders

Please check your spam folders at least once a week to make sure
you're not losing mail. Your spam may be in two places.
On the Barracuda
On the server
- In a browser, type http://nothingness.brni-jhu.org to get to the Barracuda.
(For security reasons, this port is blocked by our firewall. You must be at the
Institute before this will work.)
- For Username, enter your complete email address.
- For Password, enter the password that was mailed to you. This is different
from your regular email password.
- If a legitimate message is there, click on "Deliver" or "Whitelist".
"Deliver" will deliver one individual message.
"Whitelist" will ensure that all messages from that sender will be delivered
in the future.
- Check one page of spam at a time. To select all the messages on the entire page,
check the small white box at the top of the spam list, next to the word "Time".
- Click on "Delete" to delete the spam.
- Any spam not caught by the Barracuda will be checked again by our email server.
If it's classified as spam, it will be marked with the word "***SPAM***".
It is easy to set up your account so these messages are automatically put
in your spam folder. See

- If you use Pine, the spam folder shows up automatically. If you use Outlook
or Outlook Express, the spam folder should show up if you click "Check for
new folders". When you configure your account in Outlook, we recommend using
IMAP instead of POP3, as it may be easier with IMAP.
- If spam is still getting through, or legitimate messages are being marked
as spam, you can change your sensitivity settings as described in
